NEW YORK—Earlier this month, Salon 94 Freemans gallery space was transformed into fabulous “Dinner for 24 Dogs.” The lively installation featured a round table painted with graphic abstract patterns and 24 block-shaped stools illustrated with dog portraits by Nicolas Party.
The mixed-media installation included 24 stools featuring dog portraits.
Everyone, it seems, has a dog that they pamper and spoil with special food, luxurious accommodations and stylish clothing and accessories. So it is no surprise that the modern American love of canines has been incorporated into a fine art exhibit. Party’s realistic portraits celebrate the finest dog breeds. The Glasgow-based artist, approached the table and seating installation as a stage set that debuted with a “performance,” an actual dinner party “experience” for humans, where special dishes conceived by Party were served.
“Dinner for 24 Dogs” was on view from Nov. 11 to Dec. 22, 2012.
