MIAMI—Two billboards by Gary Simmons declare “I wish it could be morning all day long.” The works are a part of Art Public, an Art Basel Miami Beach collaboration with the Bass Museum, located in Collins Park.
The sculptures and site specific installations by Simmons, as well as Alice Aycock, Jose Davila and Lourival Cuquinha, among others, are “grounded in their connection to speech and language.” Christine Y. Kim, associate curator of contemporary art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), selected the works included in the exhibition.
Art Public is on view in Collins Park in South Beach, between Collins and Park avenues and 21st and 22nd streets, from Dec. 6 to Dec. 9, 2012. See more details about the works here.

“Street Lamp,” 2012 (neon, metal and electric energy) by Iván Navarro and Courtney Smith.
Yesterday afternoon, the installation of three park benches with seats composed of neon lighting was cordoned off. They were being repaired because someone sat on one of the works and broke the glass neon lighting tubes. Now a sign cautioning no sitting allowed is displayed prominently with the installation.
“Untitled (The Space Beneath Us),” 2012 (handmade ceramic tiles) by Jose Davila.
“I feel, you feel, we feel through each other into our selves,” 2012 (cast aluminum, white enamel) by Ugo Rondinone.
