NEW YORK—It is partly cloudy at Paula Cooper Gallery. Suspended from the ceiling, the densely packed forms were created by Sanford Biggers. Composed of raw cotton, the lumpy clouds look like they are straight out of a Southern plantation—dense with history and potential. Biggers’s clouds are a part of “Eight Sculptors,” a new exhibit at the gallery for which he has also contributed three painted quilts.
“Eight Sculptors” also includes work by Sam Durant, Matias Faldbakken, Liz Glynn, Justin Matherly, Matt Sheridan Smith, Molly Smith and Rudolf Stingel, and is on view from Nov. 8 to Dec. 22, 2012.
