The Audience Gets Top Billing in Aaron Stern’s Concert Photographs

NEW YORK—In Aaron Stern‘s photographs, concert goers upstage the band. He focuses his lens on the audience and captures the stories in the crowd. His images include isolated moments, collective action and even the sculptural quality of the sound system.

Stern’s photography grew out of his work as a talent booker and event producer. The photographs are on display at the Milk Gallery from Jan. 18-22, 2012, and will be published in “Everyone Must Be Announced,” a coffee table book from Shipley & Halmos.
