“Walking Men 99 (2nd Edition),” 2011
NEW YORK—The construction site at the corner of Barclay and Church streets is wrapped in colorful figures from around the world.
“Walking Men 99 (2nd Edition)” features pedestrian traffic light figures from cities throughout the world. The installation by Maya Barkai is a part of the Downtown Alliance’s Re: Construction public art program.
According to Re: Construction, the program “channels the energy of Lower Manhattan’s rebuilding process by recasting construction sites as canvases for innovative public art and architecture. Each project uses standard construction barriers to embrace the ongoing nature of Lower Manhattan’s redevelopment with original and whimsical design.”
