Carole Feuerman: Life-like Beach Bather at Jim Kempner Fine Art

“Monumental Brooke with Beach Ball,” 2010 (oil and bronze) by Carole Feuerman

NEW YORK—The pebble garden in the spacious patio entry to Jim Kempner Fine Art in Chelsea serves as exhibition space. On Sunday, it featured a life-like sculpture created in 2010 by Carole Feuerman: “Monumental Brooke with Beach Ball.”

In 2009, the gallery showed a series of her figures in a show titled: “Carole Feuerman: Swimmers, Bathers, Nudes.”

Above, “Monumental Brooke with Beach Ball,” is incredibly humanistic, with details such as water-like droplets on the skin, making it appear the figure has just emerged from the ocean; Below, “Tree,” 2009 (oil and resin), with “Monumental Brooke…” in the background.

Thank you for blogging me. I love your blog. I made another piece just like the one at the Jim Kempner Gallery and collaborated with painter Ron Burkhardt, who painted a water canvas that she is resting on. We submitted it to this year’s ArtPrize contest. We have just made the top 25% but have to get to top 10% by Wednesday to be in the running to win. Can you blog us again? We need votes.
