Bronx, NEW YORK—I went to pick up a package at the UPS distribution center on Canal Place in the Bronx today and noticed this rusting fence across the street. Years of exposure to the elements have worn beautifully on the industrial material.
The mediterranean hues reminded me of a feature I saw a few months ago in the New York Times. The slideshow, “Seeing Beauty in the Rust Belt,” by photographer Alyssha Eve Csukin captures the artful, rusting decay of Bethlehem Steel, a manufacturing plant in Bethlehem, Pa., that closed in 1995.
